Copiapó is an almost unexplored region of our country, and here we show you its main attractions. The Pan de Azúcar National Park is one of the main ones, in a full day excursion we visit its coastal lighthouse of about 800 m of height on the beach, where thanks to the camanchaca, cactus and low shrubs survive and you can see their native fauna will give them the opportunity to see many species, such as guanacos, chilla foxes and some reptiles, and also from the coast, such as chungungos (or sea otters)sea lions, highlighting the most important bird of the place, the penguin of Humboldt, a species considered vulnerable. A visit to the Llanos de Challe National Park and the Costa del Huasco is also a must, where the natural wonder of the flowered Desert emerges. The park presents a coastal desert ecosystem that forms the habitat of more than 200 rare and beautiful plant species. In the coastal zone, the humidity generated by the mists and the occasional rain contribute to the vegetation being more abundant than in the interior.
The tour will also take you to Totoral, a quiet ancestral village, an oasis in the desert, where you will know the life and tradition of its inhabitants.
In a third day our clients will have the option to make the half-day excursion Paleontological Route, with areas with the presence of fossils of marine vertebrates, reptiles, birds and mammals, ending with a guided tour of the Caldera Paleontological Museum, or a half-day excursion through the Circuito Minero (Mining Circuit), 29 km north-west of Copiapó, where 33 miners were trapped for 69 days.
