Start by exploring the city with a half-day tour of Playa Brava, the Grotto of Lourdes church on the Cavancha Peninsula, and the Cavancha Beach Theme Park, to continue with a walk along the Boulevard Baquedano with its Gregorian style houses and visit the Astoreca Palace Museum, in addition to the Plaza Prat and its Clock Tower of 1877 and visit the Municipal Theatre of the XIX century, which are part of the historic center of Iquique, to continue with a visit to the Naval Museum with its ruins of the Corbeta Esmeralda, the Rimac Palace, the fishermen’s cove and the Prat Pier with all its coastal fauna, ending at the Zona Franca Mall (Zofri) where you can make tax-free purchases.
On a full day we will visit the Giant Geoglyph of Atacama (the largest human figure in the world), which dates from about 700 years ago, and then visit the towns of Huara and Pozo Almonte. Continuing south, we visit the Salar Seco and Painted Geoglyphs Park to witness the largest concentration of Geoglyphs in the world with more than 300 geometric, anthropomorphic and geomorphic figures. After a picnic lunch on the road we return to the city.
The circuit of Iquique would not be complete without knowing the Oasis of Pica and the Towns Salitreros. Departing early in the morning, the Geoglyphs of Tres Islas in the Cordillera de la Costa are visited and then the Salitreras and Ghost Villages of Santa Laura and Humberstone (UNESCO Cultural Heritage of Humanity). After crossing the Tamarugal Forest and Pozo Almonte, we will arrive to the village of La Tirana to finally have lunch in a typical restaurant of the Oasis of Pica and visit the semi-thermal natural swimming pool "Cocha Resbaladero", ending the day in the Oasis of Matilla.
